Five Virtual Boy titles join Nintendo Switch Online Expansion

Nintendo added V-Tetris, Jack Bros., Space Invaders: Virtual Collection, Virtual Bowling and Vertical Force to Switch Online + Expansion Pack; Japan also received Virtual Fishing.

Nintendo has added five Virtual Boy titles to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup. V-Tetris, Jack Bros., Space Invaders: Virtual Collection, Virtual Bowling and Vertical Force are now available to members on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players in Japan also received Virtual Fishing.

Access requires an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Nintendo notes that to experience the games as intended, players need a compatible headset that reproduces the Virtual Boy’s original stereoscopic presentation. The titles are available immediately to eligible subscribers.

The released games cover several genres. V-Tetris is a puzzle game adapted from Tetris for the Virtual Boy display. Jack Bros. mixes action and platforming. Space Invaders: Virtual Collection and Vertical Force are shooter titles. Virtual Bowling offers sports-style gameplay. Virtual Fishing is included only in the Japanese lineup this week.

The Virtual Boy hardware debuted in 1995 and used a red-and-black stereoscopic display. The system had a brief commercial run and a small game catalog. Making these titles playable on current Switch hardware gives players a way to revisit or sample games from that library without the original console.

Subscribers can download the games from the Nintendo Classics section after signing into an account with the Expansion Pack tier active. Nintendo has not announced whether additional Virtual Boy games will be added or provided a schedule for future releases.
