Arc Raiders adds Arc Turbine in Riven Tides update

The free Riven Tides update adds a flying Arc Turbine that lands to gather particulates and defends itself with electric attacks and motion-detection mines.
The developer released the Riven Tides update this week, adding a new map and a large enemy called the Arc Turbine to Arc Raiders. The update also introduces new map conditions, a Player Event, a seasonal Raider Project, expanded enemy placements and additional equipment and quests.
Scouts report the Arc Turbine as a cone-shaped machine that operates both in the air and on the ground. It moves slowly while scanning for landing sites, then perches on rooftops and towers to collect airborne particulates with exposed inner machinery. Raiders who search wreckage can recover ARC parts from its components.
The Turbine does not attack immediately on sight. It prioritizes finding a safe place to land and will try to relocate when disturbed. When provoked, it uses layered defenses: electrically charged attacks that can track players using cover and motion-detection mines that trigger on close approaches. Developers note that engaging it from the wrong angle or without preparation increases risk to players.
Developer tips included with the update read: “Pick your spot. It’s safer to fight it in the open.” “Plan your approach carefully and move slowly as you get closer – I wouldn’t recommend trying to hitch a ride on it!” “Prepare for anything – pack traversal gear and Adrenaline Shots.”
The update materials recommend coordinated squad tactics. The Turbine is easier to damage when it is grounded and stationary, and it will move quickly to safer positions if it senses a threat. Effective engagements typically require routes to reach elevated perches, traversal tools to get into position, and timed bursts of damage while the machine is vulnerable.
Riven Tides is the sixth free content update for the game and the fourth installment on its Escalation roadmap. The patch also spreads the Vaporizer enemy to more maps and adds a minor map condition along with new items players can craft.
Arc Raiders is a cooperative action game in which players scavenge the surface for parts and return to the underground hub of Speranza to craft and upgrade gear. Runs support solo play or squads of up to three. The game features multiple maps with changing conditions, a skill tree split into Survival, Mobility and Conditioning, and a range of weapons from conventional firearms to railguns and energy arms. Large ARC threats such as the Turbine drop high-value parts used to upgrade workshops and craft advanced equipment.
