GungHo announced at a Nintendo Direct that Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet, the series’ first open-world title, will arrive exclusively on Switch 2 in spring 2027.

GungHo announced at a Nintendo Direct that Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet will launch exclusively on Switch 2 in spring 2027. The company described the game as the series’ first open-world title and the first chapter of a two-part saga.

The sequel places players on an unknown planet after the protagonist breaks a forbidden seal and must find a way back to Earth. GungHo said players will explore large landscapes and expand mobility and combat using Ninja Gum actions such as Gum Boost and Gum Balloon, plus a new Gum Hook. The announcement also referenced IPPON-style victories and a range of weapons, including katanas, hammers and rockets.

Ninjala 2 will support four-player cooperative play with local and online options that pit teams against large enemy encounters. The company did not include details about a traditional competitive multiplayer mode or confirm whether the sequel will follow the free-to-play model of the original Ninjala.

GungHo began winding down the original multiplayer-focused Ninjala last year and released a Switch 2 compatibility update for that game ahead of the sequel’s reveal. To mark the announcement, the studio is offering 1,000 Jala in the original title for a limited time.

Episodes 1 through 63 of the Ninjala anime will return to YouTube; GungHo noted the series connects directly to the story of Ninjala 2 and recommended the episodes as background for players. The publisher presented Ninjala 2 as the opening chapter of a two-part narrative, with a second entry expected to follow.

Previously, we reported that Ninjala: The Uncharted Planet will add a single-player mode next spring.
