NIS America brings Trails: Zero and Azure to Switch 2, 4K/120fps
NIS America announced Fall 2026 Switch 2 releases for The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure with 4K, 120fps, mouse support and a physical bundle.
NIS America announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in Fall 2026. Both titles will be sold separately and as a confirmed physical bundle and will support up to 4K resolution, up to 120 frames per second, and mouse input.
The publisher described the Switch 2 releases as enhanced versions of Falcom’s Crossbell duology. Players will be able to switch between original and upscaled textures. The games will include a High-Speed Mode for faster movement and battles, and the ports will make use of mouse controls on Nintendo’s next console. NIS America confirmed physical and digital availability but did not disclose pricing or whether current Switch owners will receive an upgrade path.
Trails from Zero returns players to the city-state of Crossbell. The story follows Lloyd Bannings after he joins the Special Support Section alongside Elie MacDowell, Randy Orlando and Tio Plato. NIS America highlighted improved visuals and HD textures for Crossbell and performance targets of up to 4K and 120 FPS on Switch 2.
Trails to Azure continues Lloyd’s story a few months later as new factions and political pressure threaten the city. The release will include additional combat mechanics such as Burst and Back Attack, a customizable car feature and appearances by characters from the Trails of Cold Steel games.
NIS America said save-data import from Trails from Zero into Trails to Azure will unlock additional conversations and alternate dialogue that alter some story moments. Players can choose to play with the original textures or the enhanced upscaled visuals.
Both games previously released on the original Nintendo Switch, where some areas experienced occasional frame stutter. The Switch 2 editions aim to address performance with the higher frame-rate target. The company gave no precise launch dates beyond Fall 2026 and provided no pricing details.
Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure make up the Crossbell duology, the second narrative arc in The Legend of Heroes series. The most recent series entry, Trails Beyond the Horizon, arrived earlier this year as part of the fourth arc; the original releases of Zero and Azure appeared in 2022 and 2023.
