SteamDB lists ‘Super Yooka-Laylee Kart’ playtest

A SteamDB listing for a playtest titled ‘Super Yooka-Laylee Kart’ has appeared, showing a logo and at least one piece of artwork. The entry appeared after Playtonic Games posted short teases on its social channels, including the couplet ‘Collecting quills is far too slow, There may be faster ways to go…’.

SteamDB records public uploads and metadata from the Steam platform. The art and logo in the listing are the primary public evidence of a kart project at present.

Playtonic has not issued an official announcement. The studio has not confirmed whether the SteamDB entry refers to an internal test, a closed playtest or a wider beta. The listing does not list platforms beyond Steam, release timing, or details on how players might participate.

A kart title would follow Playtonic’s recent releases. Last year the studio released Yooka-Replaylee, a modern rework of its original Kickstarter-funded platformer. An April update added 60 frames-per-second performance to the Switch 2 version. Playtonic’s previous original entry in the series was Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair in 2019.

Discussion among players about a Yooka-Laylee kart racer has circulated for several years. At present the SteamDB listing and Playtonic’s social teases are the only public indicators; confirmation will depend on an official statement from the developer.
