13 Must-Play Open-World Games on PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Plus Game Catalog now lists 13 open-world games available to Extra and Premium/Deluxe members, with Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws added to the lineup and available starting today. PlayStation confirmed the Game Catalog is included with Extra and Premium/Deluxe subscriptions and that availability may vary by region.

The catalog includes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020), in which players control Eivor through Viking raids, settlement building and a mix of stealth and melee combat. Cyberpunk 2077 (2020, updated 2022) lets players customize attributes such as Cool and Technical Ability to shape hacking, combat and weapon proficiency; the title features the character Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves. Death Stranding Director’s Cut (2019/2021) casts players as Sam Bridges delivering cargo across a devastated United States, with heavy emphasis on inventory management and traversal mechanics.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut (2020/2021) is set in late 13th-century Japan and combines sword combat with stealth and deception. Fallout 4 (2015, with a 2024 re-release on some platforms) is set in a post-apocalyptic Massachusetts and includes base building, faction choices and character modification. Grand Theft Auto V (2014/2022) features three playable protagonists who undertake heists and interact with criminal organizations, government agents and entertainment-industry figures.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) follows Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang across the late-19th-century American frontier, with open-world exploration and story-driven missions. Far Cry 6 (2021) centers on guerrilla warfare on a Caribbean island, offering conventional and improvised weapons, vehicles and an open area to explore. Hogwarts Legacy (2023) places players at a 19th-century wizarding school where spellcasting, potion-making and crafting are part of exploration and combat.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (2017/2024) follows Aloy in a world where machines dominate the landscape; gameplay includes stealth, ranged combat and machine hacking. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024) combines turn-based role-playing battles with side activities such as karaoke and arcade games across Yokohama and Honolulu City. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023) expands traversal and combat for Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face a symbiote-related threat. Star Wars Outlaws (2024) is described as an open-world space western with space combat, planetary exploration, cantina encounters and a storyline involving escape from a crime syndicate.

PlayStation noted the 13 titles are a starting selection and that additional open-world games are available in the Game Catalog. The company also said catalog contents can change over time and vary by region; users should check the PlayStation Store for the local lineup.
