Industry observers and sources tracking Microsoft’s plans have outlined several items likely to appear during the presentation.

Leaked images of a new Elite Series 3 controller and a companion cloud-gaming pad have circulated in recent weeks. Observers say those images point to a formal Elite Series 3 announcement at the showcase. The Elite Series 2 launched near the end of the previous console generation almost seven years ago, and a refreshed high-end controller would target competitive players and cloud gamers.

Sources expect Microsoft to announce concrete additions to the backward-compatible library as part of Xbox’s 25th anniversary initiatives. The company previously relaunched its backward-compatibility effort in 2015, and the 2026 showcase could include a batch of confirmed titles or teasers for staggered releases later in the year. Some additions could appear as surprise releases timed with the event.

Asha Sharma, who took over as head of Xbox, has emphasized returning the brand to its roots. Industry discussion has focused on the possible revival of original Xbox franchises owned by Microsoft. Banjo-Kazooie is frequently mentioned among titles linked to revival talks, and multiple studios have reportedly pitched concepts for new entries. Rare is currently focused on Sea of Thieves and had Everwild canceled within the last year, so other studios could lead any revival projects.

Gears of War: E-Day is expected to feature early in the showcase and to receive a release date announcement. The franchise marks its 25th anniversary in 2026, and Halo’s appearance at the event is widely anticipated.

Limited-edition hardware tied to major Xbox franchises is expected among the announcements. Observers predict special consoles, controllers or headsets themed around Halo, Gears and other Microsoft-owned properties, following past franchise-branded releases.

Beyond titles and peripherals, industry watchers predict a major new Xbox initiative. Possibilities under discussion include a disc-to-digital program to streamline game ownership, expanded official emulation support on Windows, or another platform-level service designed to align Xbox experiences across devices.
