8BitDo launches quieter Arcade Controller Signature Edition

8BitDo released the Arcade Controller Signature Edition with quieter Purple Glede switches, pro player signatures and a transparent purple shell for £79.99/$94.99; an Upgrade Pack costs $29.99.

8BitDo has released the Arcade Controller Signature Edition, a revised version of its leverless fighting-game controller. The Signature Edition is priced at £79.99/$94.99 and features quieter Purple Glede switches, printed signatures from pro players Vxbao and Zhen, and a transparent purple housing.

The new Purple Glede switches replace the original model’s clicky Kailh Wizard switches. The Purple Glede parts have a lower profile and a shorter actuation point. According to 8BitDo, the switches produce less audible noise and sit lower in the faceplate, which the company says improves responsiveness and makes sliding techniques easier to perform.

8BitDo also introduced an Upgrade Pack for $29.99 aimed at owners of the original Arcade Controller. The pack includes 16 Purple Glede replacement switches, gold-colored button caps, a standard keycap puller and a plain wrist rest. No UK price for the Upgrade Pack has been announced. The replacement parts allow users to mix the new caps with existing button colors.

The Arcade Controller is positioned as a compact, competition-ready alternative to 8BitDo’s larger Arcade Stick. The original model was noted for its build and feature set but used tactile Kailh Wizard switches that some users found loud.

The Signature Edition and the Upgrade Pack are available separately so buyers can choose a prebuilt quieter unit with the transparent shell and signatures or retrofit an existing controller with quieter switches and new caps. Pricing and contents indicate the products are aimed at both new buyers and current Arcade Controller owners who want to reduce button noise without replacing the full device.
