Developers Fumi and PlaySide released the first Switch 2 patch on April 2, 2026, fixing crashes, progression blockers and audio/menu issues and announced a larger update coming.

Fumi and PlaySide released the first Switch 2 patch for Mouse: P.I. For Hire on April 2, 2026. The update, listed as version v0.0 for Nintendo’s hybrid console, targets stability and several progression blockers reported since the game’s April launch. The teams also announced a second, larger Switch 2 update that will include additional bug fixes, quality-of-life changes and performance and optimization improvements.

The patch fixes a crash that could occur when the game language was set to Traditional Chinese at startup or via settings, and refines several Simplified Chinese translations. A black-screen issue in the ‘The Reel Deal’ sequence that could block progress when lens distortion was disabled has been resolved. Collision problems in the ‘Mouseburg Opera’ mini-boss arena that could leave players stuck were fixed, and logic in the ‘Far Wetlands’ level was corrected so a ‘No Entry Yet’ door opens after enemies are defeated.

Combat and enemy behavior adjustments include improved pathfinding in the ‘Quagmire’ level to prevent enemies from snagging on doors and geometry, adjusted movement for the final boss in ‘The Reel Deal’, a fix to ensure the D-Namite throwing animation triggers consistently, and correction of a bug where shotgun-wielding enemies sometimes failed to damage the player. The update also removes a progression blocker in ‘Curdsville’ and prevents softlocks tied to controller rebindings.

Several quest and item issues were addressed. Players can now collect a clue when freeing the jailed cop in ‘Clergy Row’. The six-door sequence on ‘Tinsel Ave.’ no longer traps players. Geometry issues in ‘Wallop Bay’ that could cause getting stuck were fixed. An NPC for the ‘Friends in Deep Places’ side quest now appears correctly in ‘Fart Harbor’, the quest item for ‘Slugs in the Shell’ is restored, and blueprints required for the ‘Blueprint, please’ side quest can be collected again. The update also resolves an issue where ‘Active Jobs’ would disappear after completing ‘Far Wetlands’, which could block progression.

Menu and audio fixes include removal of corrupted or glitchy sounds from settings sliders and the weapon wheel, and ensuring game-over music is excluded when the ‘Toggle Licensed Music’ option is set to Off. The update adds an option in Settings to opt out of data and analytics tracking after onboarding and updates the in-game Privacy Policy. Background process cleanup when closing the game was improved, and weapon scaling damage that persisted across sessions has been fixed.

Fumi and PlaySide said they will share more details about the forthcoming larger Switch 2 update in the coming weeks. Mouse: P.I. For Hire is a noir-style animated first-person detective shooter that launched in April and has been receiving platform-specific fixes since release.
