Aardman Reveals Stop-Motion Pokémon Poster for 2027

Aardman revealed an official poster at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for its stop-motion series “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” confirming a 2027 release. The poster was shared on The Pokémon Company’s social channels and provides the first clear promotional art tied to a confirmed year.

The image depicts Sirfetch’d and Pichu walking through a mountainous part of the Galar wilds, with Pichu balanced on the leek that Sirfetch’d carries like a sword. Sirfetch’d appears poised near a cliff edge in the composition, indicating the series will include physical, slapstick-style comedy.

The project is a collaboration between Aardman and The Pokémon Company. The series was first teased in 2024 and a short teaser trailer followed in 2025. The Annecy poster is the first full promotional artwork released alongside a year; no distribution partner or exact release date was announced at the festival.

Aardman is known for stop-motion productions such as Wallace & Gromit. The studio’s involvement confirms the series will use physical model animation rather than computer-generated imagery. The choice of Sirfetch’d, a Fighting-type Pokémon from Galar that uses a leek as a weapon, and Pichu, a small Electric-type and pre-evolution of Pikachu, suggests a pairing intended to contrast size and temperament.

The Pokémon Company wrote in the caption: “Prepare for an epic journey through the Galar wilds where gallant quests and noble deeds await our heroes. Our new stop-motion animated series with Aardman is coming in 2027.”

The poster was posted to The Pokémon Company’s Instagram account and drew attention from viewers, prompting discussion about tone and animation style. Officials have not released further plot details, episode counts, voice cast information or a production schedule beyond the 2027 target.
