Shadows final update adds epilogue, Domains and parkour fixes

Ubisoft released Title Update 1.1.11, the final free update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, adding the Black Tides epilogue, the Domains challenge mode and parkour changes from player feedback.

Ubisoft has released Title Update 1.1.11, the final free update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The update is available now on Xbox Series X|S and closes the game’s post-launch content cycle with story and gameplay additions shaped by player feedback.

Associate Game Director Simon Lemay-Comtois described the studio’s post-launch approach for Shadows as more iterative and responsive than the larger, less frequent updates used on some previous franchise entries. After the base game and the Claws of Awaji expansion, the team prioritized smaller, targeted updates to address player reports and observed play patterns, with a focus on core systems.

The update’s main narrative element, Black Tides, provides roughly two hours of new story content. It introduces two elite Templar agents known as the Black Cross to Japan and links parts of Shadows’ plot to other Assassin’s Creed entries, including a direct reference to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Lemay-Comtois said the epilogue was created in response to community requests for more Templar presence and stronger ties to franchise lore.

The update also introduces Domains, a repeatable, high-difficulty challenge mode set outside feudal Japan. Domains presents escalating encounters designed to test player builds and gear. Rewards earned inside Domains are exclusive to the mode; they cannot be purchased, found in the open world, or acquired through the Animus Exchange.

Parkour received a substantial overhaul based on feedback from players and content creators. The team reviewed community footage, held workshops and worked directly with prominent parkour creators such as Ropotopolous to change movement behaviors. One specific change adjusted the parkour down mechanic so players can drop in steps rather than a single silent descent, giving more control over movement sequences.

Some parkour improvements have been applied across projects that use Ubisoft’s Anvil engine. The development team in Singapore implemented relevant movement updates for Edward in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, aiming for quicker interruptions between moves and smoother transitions.

Lemay-Comtois framed the post-launch work as a response to what players played and shared: the studio examined hours of gameplay, player-made builds, stealth videos and parkour challenges when deciding what to add or change. He thanked the Shadows community for its feedback and engagement.

The final free update is out now on Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch on Xbox Series X|S on July 9.
