Age of Empires IV released Yue Fei’s Legacy on May 7, 2026, adding an eight-mission campaign about General Yue Fei and a playable Jin Dynasty civilization on PC and consoles.
Age of Empires IV released Yue Fei’s Legacy on May 7, 2026. The expansion is available on Steam, the Microsoft Store, Xbox and PlayStation 5.
The pack includes an eight-mission single-player campaign that follows Song Dynasty general Yue Fei and commander Han Shizhong as Song forces resist the Jin Dynasty during the Song-Jin Wars. Players can play the campaign in single-player mode.
The expansion adds the Jin Dynasty as a playable civilization for skirmish matches, multiplayer and the game’s Crucible mode. Jin players can progress through new Mastery trees to change unit and economy options.
The Jin civilization uses a mobile economic model. Mounted Villagers gather exposed resources quickly and Emissaries can travel outward to establish Tributary States that supply food. The Jin also have defensive keeps called Meng’an Mouke that provide automated defenses while supporting mobile play.
Militarily, the Jin emphasize cavalry and siege. New units introduced in the expansion include Mounted Grenadiers, Eruptors, Bed Crossbows, and the Iron Pagoda siege unit. These units expand available tactical options and unit compositions on the battlefield.
The update adds four new maps and two new biomes for skirmish and multiplayer play, with varied terrain and resource placement intended to affect strategy and movement in matches.
Yue Fei’s Legacy is sold as an expansion and is available now on the listed storefronts. The Jin Dynasty’s Masteries and units are usable in skirmish, ranked matches and the Crucible.
Historically, the Jin Dynasty rose in 1115 after rebelling against the Liao Dynasty and controlled much of northern China until Mongol conquest in 1234. Yue Fei was a Song Dynasty general known for leading resistance against Jin incursions; the campaign depicts a series of battles and defensive actions during a period of territorial loss and conflict.
