Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition launches June 23 on Steam
Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition arrives June 23 on Steam, Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass with mouse-and-keyboard controls, 4K visuals and crossplay with mobile.
Microsoft and World’s Edge will release Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition on June 23 on Steam, the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass. The title is a PC-optimized version of the mobile strategy game and keeps the mobile game’s large shared-world battles, alliance warfare and persistent city-building.
The PC Edition runs natively on Windows with controls adjusted for mouse and keyboard. The interface has been refined for managing heroes and cities, and the game includes higher-resolution graphics aimed at larger displays, including enhanced 4K visuals. Core systems such as base building, hero recruitment, alliances and live events remain present and are adapted for desktop use.
Crossplay support will let players carry the same empire between mobile devices and PC. Saves and progression are set to sync across devices so users can continue their progress on phone or tablet and then switch to a PC for longer sessions or to use the expanded interface and visuals.
Before the June 23 launch the game ran a Closed Beta. Developers collected player feedback on controls, readability and navigation and applied changes to the PC interface and interaction patterns based on that input.
At launch the game will be available on Steam, the Microsoft Store and through PC Game Pass, where subscribers can access it as part of the service. The publisher described the release as an additional entry point into the Age of Empires franchise rather than a replacement for the series’ core real-time strategy titles.
The Age of Empires franchise has been active for nearly 30 years and the publisher reports the series reaches more than 70 million players worldwide. Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition joins other franchise entries planned for 2026 and brings a mobile-originated strategy experience to desktop platforms.
