Alix Wilton Regan: Tomb Raider Reimagining Coming to Switch 2

Alix Wilton Regan, cast as the new voice and motion-capture performer for Lara Croft, described Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis as a full reimagining of the 1996 Tomb Raider for the Nintendo Switch 2 rather than a straight remake or remaster.

Regan said the project preserves the original game’s core themes and structure while adding new scenes, expanded character moments and larger set pieces intended to broaden the story. She characterized the title as a fresh take on Lara Croft’s debut adventure adapted for the Switch 2 platform.

The actor’s voice and motion-capture performance will be used to shape Lara’s on-screen presence. Regan noted the production places emphasis on integrated performance capture and that the character work is more developed than in the 1996 release, with new moments intended to reveal more of Lara’s personality and motivations.

Regan suggested the development approach will flesh out events from the original game and introduce new material to deepen the narrative. She said the team plans to give longtime players familiar touchpoints while adding new content and larger set pieces.

The original Tomb Raider, released in 1996, introduced Lara Croft and launched a long-running franchise. Legacy of Atlantis is presented as a modern reinterpretation of that first adventure for a current-generation portable console.

No release date or wider launch window has been announced, and the developer has not provided further gameplay details. Regan described the title as ‘very much a reimagining of Lara’s debut adventure’ and said it is ‘not a remake or a remaster.’
