Amazon MGM secures publishing rights for future James Bond games

Amazon MGM says it holds rights to future James Bond video games, confirms IO Interactive remains a development partner and will reveal more about 007 First Light.

Amazon Game Studios issued a statement this week saying Amazon MGM holds the rights to any future James Bond video games. The studio said it is too early to discuss specific projects and that further details will be announced later.

“Amazon MGM holds the rights to any future James Bond video games but it’s still too early to discuss future projects. We have a great relationship with IO Interactive and are proud of what we’ve accomplished together on 007 First Light. Our partners at IO will reveal more about 007 First Light in the near future and we’re looking forward to sharing what’s next,” the statement said.

The announcement addressed questions about IO Interactive’s role after the developer released 007 First Light. IO Interactive previously self-published First Light and has indicated additional content for the title is planned.

The game’s ending includes the line “James Bond will return,” which sets up a continuation. Neither company provided a timeline for new Bond titles beyond confirming the rights arrangement.

007 First Light is scheduled for release on Switch 2 in Summer 2026 after a delay. Under the current arrangement, Amazon MGM will hold publishing rights while IO Interactive remains the developer and will announce further plans for the game in due course.
