Anima: Song From the Abyss set for 2027 on PS5, Xbox, PC
Anima: Song From the Abyss, announced more than six years ago, will release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC; the planned PS4 version has been canceled.
Developer Anima Project confirmed that Anima: Song From the Abyss will arrive in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The studio also said the game will no longer release on PlayStation 4.
Anima: Song From the Abyss is an action role-playing game set in the Anima: Beyond Fantasy universe. Players control two protagonists who explore environments connected to the Abyss and investigate the events that follow a catastrophe aboard an imperial zeppelin. The studio did not provide a specific month or day for the 2027 window.
The game’s official description outlines the opening incident: “An imperial zeppelin descends into chaos when, without explanation, most of its crew suddenly vanish. With an unknown force stalking the airship, Soren, the last surviving knight guarding the dirigible, fights to protect its dangerous cargo: a powerful relic from a forgotten civilization. But in a desperate attempt to save the vessel, he unknowingly unleashes a catastrophe by freeing a legendary entity imprisoned within the artifact itself.”
Anima Project has highlighted character-driven exploration and combat across the two playable leads but has released few technical or gameplay details alongside the release window. The studio indicated it is concentrating development on current-generation consoles and PC rather than supporting older hardware.
The Anima franchise began as a tabletop role-playing game from Anima Game Studio and has expanded into other formats, including a card game and previous video games. Digital entries include 2011’s Anima: Ark of Sinners and 2016’s Anima: Gate of Memories. Song From the Abyss continues the series’ setting while aiming for an action-RPG format on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Anima Project has not announced system requirements, pricing, precise release dates, cross-save or multiplayer support, or post-launch plans. Further details are expected in future updates from the developer.
