Anima: Song from the Abyss hits 2027; PS4 version dropped

Anima: Song from the Abyss will launch in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC; the developer removed a planned PS4 release.

Anima Project confirmed that Anima: Song from the Abyss will arrive sometime in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A previously announced PlayStation 4 version is no longer listed among the target platforms.

The developer announced the 2027 release window and platform lineup in a recent update but did not provide a specific release date.

The action role-playing game is set in the Anima: Beyond Fantasy universe. Players control two protagonists who explore a dark world and investigate mysteries tied to the Abyss and an imperial airship.

The publisher’s description reads: “An imperial zeppelin descends into chaos when, without explanation, most of its crew suddenly vanish. With an unknown force stalking the airship, Soren, the last surviving knight guarding the dirigible, fights to protect its dangerous cargo: a powerful relic from a forgotten civilization. But in a desperate attempt to save the vessel, he unknowingly unleashes a catastrophe by freeing a legendary entity imprisoned within the artifact itself.”

Anima began as a tabletop role-playing property developed by Anima Game Studio and has expanded into a card game and two prior video games, Anima: Ark of Sinners (2011) and Anima: Gate of Memories (2016).

Anima Project has not released further details on gameplay systems, multiplayer options, or platform-specific features. The announcement concentrated on platforms and the game’s basic narrative premise.
