Annapurna hands out retro PlayStation press packs

At Play Days during Summer Game Fest, Annapurna Interactive handed out press packs styled as retro PlayStation box art to promote upcoming PS5 titles.

Annapurna Interactive handed out press packs styled as retro PlayStation box art at Play Days, a press-adjacent event held during Summer Game Fest.

The mock packaging included PS2-style covers for Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant (the latter presented in a “Greatest Hits” treatment), a PS1-style cover for The Lost Wild, and a Nintendo 64-style box for Demi and the Fractured Dream.

Photographer Kit Ellis posted images of the packs; the photos were shared online.

The packs’ contents were not disclosed. Attendees familiar with press kits expect items such as fact sheets, high-resolution assets and release dates rather than playable copies or new game footage.

Sammy Barker described the items as “freakin’ cool’.”

Annapurna has promoted several indie and mid-size titles in recent years and has used distinctive visual campaigns in past marketing. The retro-style press packs were distributed to press and creators attending Play Days.
