Antonblast launches on PS5 and PS4
The 2D platformer Antonblast launched on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on Oct. 15. It is available through the PlayStation Store.
Summitsphere and Joystick Ventures released Antonblast on Sony’s consoles after launching the game on Nintendo Switch and PC. Summitsphere founder Tony Grayson directed the game and composed its soundtrack.
Antonblast follows Dynamite Anton and Annie, two demolition experts whose collection of spirits was stolen by Satan’s army of moles. Players must recover the spirits, activate detonators in each level and escape before the timer expires.
The game focuses on speed and destruction. Anton can use his hammer to break objects, enemies and parts of each stage. His Clutch dash helps him build speed and link attacks.
Each level has a foreground and background layer. Players move between the layers using springs. The game includes 12 main levels, hidden collectibles and time-based challenges.
After players activate a detonator at the end of a level, the Happy Hour sequence begins. They must race back to the starting point before time runs out. The project draws inspiration from Wario Land and Crash Bandicoot, while its visuals and music reference the Game Boy Advance era.
Antonblast began with a Kickstarter campaign that raised $144,566. The game was released in 2024 for Nintendo Switch and PC.
