Antonblast launches on PS5 and PS4 today

Antonblast, a retro-style 2D platformer, launched on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store today. It previously released on Switch and PC.

Summitsphere and Joystick Ventures released Antonblast on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store today. The game previously appeared on Nintendo Switch and PC. Summitsphere founder Tony Grayson directed the game and composed its soundtrack.

Players control demolition experts Dynamite Anton or Annie to recover Anton’s stolen Spirit collection after an attack by an army of moles led by Satan. In each level players must plant a detonator, locate Anton’s Spirit and return to the start before time runs out during a timed escape phase called Happy Hour. The game’s description reads: “Your mission in every level is simple: SET Brulo’s Detonators, FIND Anton’s Spirit, and ESCAPE before happy hour ends!”

Antonblast emphasizes speed and environmental destruction rather than precision jumping. Anton uses a heavy hammer to break objects, enemies and parts of stages. A Clutch dash builds momentum and lets players chain attacks. Levels use a dual-layer design with foreground and background areas that players move between using springs. Each stage ends with a detonator-triggered escape sequence that sets a strict time limit to return.

The game includes 12 main levels, hidden collectibles and time-based challenges. Its design draws on classic handheld and platform titles such as Wario Land and Crash Bandicoot.

The project began as a Kickstarter campaign that raised $144,566. Antonblast earned an 87 out of 100 on Metacritic after its 2024 release. The title is available now on PS5 and PS4 via the PlayStation Store.
