Arizona Sunshine drops PSVR2 for third-person PS5 co-op

Vertigo Games is removing PSVR2 support and reworking Arizona Sunshine as a third-person PS5 co-op with split‑screen, online play and a playable dog, Buddy, due in 2026.

Vertigo Games is removing PSVR2 support for Arizona Sunshine and rebuilding the game as a third-person co‑op shooter for PlayStation 5. The studio plans a 2026 release but has not provided a specific launch date.

The PS5 version uses an over‑the‑shoulder third‑person camera rather than a direct flat‑screen port of the VR build. A reveal trailer shows summer-time environments and the new perspective. Vertigo says the new edition will support both local split‑screen co‑op and online multiplayer.

Players will be able to control an in‑game dog companion named Buddy in at least some modes. Vertigo has renamed the existing VR editions Arizona Sunshine VR and assigned the original Arizona Sunshine name to the non‑VR PS5 release.

The studio has not released technical details about the PS5 build. There is no official information yet on whether the game will include expanded haptics, specific frame‑rate targets, or upgraded visuals compared with the VR editions.

Arizona Sunshine first launched as a VR zombie shooter and was previously available on PSVR2 and other VR platforms. The new PS5 edition moves the franchise from a VR format to a conventional third‑person co‑op shooter.

Early viewers of the reveal trailer noted the shooting and animations appear more static compared with earlier VR presentations. Vertigo has not published developer commentary explaining the design priorities behind the perspective change.
