Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.1.11 adds Domains, Black Tides
Update 1.1.11 arrived June 16, adding the free Black Tides quest, a new end‑game Domains activity and numerous fixes. The Switch 2 patch is 9.5GB and omits Black Flag Resynced crossovers.
Ubisoft released title update 1.1.11 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on June 16. The patch adds a free story quest called “Black Tides,” a new end‑game activity named Domains, an Animus Rift called Horizon, user interface adjustments and a broad set of bug fixes and balance changes. Ubisoft frames the update as the game’s last content drop as live support winds down. The Nintendo Switch 2 build is a 9.5GB download and does not include crossover rewards tied to Black Flag Resynced.
Black Tides sets protagonists Naoe and Yasuke against two elite Templars known as Black Cross. Players must complete the main campaign plus the post‑launch quests “A Critical Encounter” and “A Puzzlement” to access the new quest.
Domains is a new Animus activity designed for high‑level play. It contains five simulation types across ten difficulty levels and requires level 30 to unlock. Domains apply escalating gameplay modifiers and use an exclusive in‑game currency operated by an NPC called MOD. Rewards include Domain‑exclusive outfits, weapons, trinkets and powerful engravings that will not be available in the regular store or exchange.
The update opens the Animus Rift named Horizon, which provides additional narrative details about the Guide. The Animus HUB interface has been adjusted to align main‑menu access with in‑game access, and the System menu is now reachable only via the Shadows’ Memory page.
Balance and bug fixes cover combat, perks, gear and quests. Tool mastery upgrades now boost shuriken damage for Bank Shot and Triple Threat. Abilities that destroy enemy armor are half as effective against bosses. Enemies take fall damage from shorter heights, and damage from enemy Poison Kunai and Explosive Grenades has been reduced. Several perks were reworked to scale as a percentage of an adrenaline chunk and adjusted to lower values. Engraving rules were tightened so conditional perks cannot be applied to inappropriate weapon types. UI fixes correct perk icons, categories and several incorrect stat displays.
Quest and world fixes were included: an Anomaly progression issue in “Gather Mon” was addressed, a problem that removed a blacksmith from a hideout in “Way of the Blacksmith” was fixed, and a sentinel that could be teleported out of bounds in “Lost and Found” was returned to expected behavior. Up to six Corrupted Castles can now appear each season, and pins and world markers persist through fast travel between Japan and Awaji. Character issues such as Naoe’s stuck katana sheath and Yasuke’s knowledge bonus not applying correctly in some cases were resolved.
Platform notes specify that the Switch 2 version receives GPU performance improvements in handheld mode. The crossover Projects Riptides and Undertow, which unlock themed outfits, weapons and trinkets through Anomalies and tie into Black Flag Resynced, are not available on Switch 2 because Black Flag Resynced will not launch on Nintendo hardware.
Ubisoft’s patch notes include the line: “Time to get those Mythic and Artifact upgrades you’ve been putting off!” The full patch notes list additional targeted fixes to perks, engravings, UI elements and other systems.
