Astonishia Story remake arrives on PS5, PC and Switch 2

NIS America announced a remake of Astonishia Story for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, due Feb. 11, 2027, with higher-resolution pixel art, refined grid-based combat and new mercenaries.

NIS America announced a remake of the party-based RPG Astonishia Story for PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled to launch on Feb. 11, 2027. The publisher released an announcement trailer that shows updated pixel art and a modern presentation.

The remake follows the original narrative of Lloyd von Reuental, a young knight pursuing a stolen ancient relic, seeking to restore his honor and opposing an Elven Queen intent on claiming the power of an ancient god. The core gameplay remains focused on strategic, grid-based battles and recruiting mercenaries to support the player’s party.

NIS America described the remake as offering higher-resolution visuals and improved graphical fidelity for current hardware. Combat mechanics have been refined, and the release includes several quality-of-life features and new optional mercenary characters aimed at expanding party options and tactical choices.

A special edition is available for pre-order at $49.99. The boxed release will include a physical copy on disk or cartridge, a digital soundtrack, an “Astonishing Sights” card set, a Storied Sun acrylic key item and a side-by-side acrylic stand.

The Astonishia Story franchise began on MS-DOS in the 1990s and later received a PlayStation Portable port. The series expanded with additional entries and a prior remake, and it reached the U.S. in 2006 when Ubisoft published the game there. The original series was developed by Korean studio Sonnori.

The current remake is being developed by Waycoder Ltd. in collaboration with Daewon Media. The announcement trailer provides the first public footage of the updated presentation and gameplay changes ahead of the Feb. 11, 2027 release.
