ASUS debuts Cyberpunk ROG Xbox Ally X custom – three made
ASUS revealed a Cyberpunk 2077–themed ROG Xbox Ally X mod by AK Mod featuring layered paint, weathering, neon-yellow accents and Johnny Silverhand nods; only three exist.
ASUS revealed a Cyberpunk 2077–themed ROG Xbox Ally X custom built by modder AK Mod and shared photos and a video of the finished piece. The hand-finished unit combines layered paint, weathering effects, neon-yellow accents and references to Johnny Silverhand. ASUS confirmed only three of the custom units were produced.
AK Mod used layered spray paints, custom water decals and targeted weathering techniques to create an intentionally worn look. Sand and salt were applied to specific areas to produce organic wear. Scratches, scuffs and traces of patina were added deliberately to give the device a lived-in appearance.
A bold neon-yellow finish wraps much of the handheld, echoing colors from the Cyberpunk 2077 palette. The project includes a themed pedestal with heavy surface distressing and design elements that reference Johnny Silverhand’s guitar.
In a post accompanying the photos and video, ASUS wrote: “One glance tells you this ROG Xbox Ally X didn’t roll off a factory line. Master craftsman AK Mod combined layered spray paints, specialized weathering techniques, and custom water decals to make both the device and its pedestal feel like they were pulled straight out of Night City.” The company also noted that every mark on the unit was intentional to achieve a dystopian appearance.
AK Mod’s custom units are not being sold. ASUS did not announce plans to produce a wider consumer edition or a retail version of the Cyberpunk-themed Ally X. The company presented the build as a showcase of custom modding techniques applied to a mainstream handheld.
The ROG Xbox Ally X pairs ASUS ROG hardware styling with Microsoft’s Xbox ecosystem to create a portable gaming device. One-off builds and aftermarket mods are sometimes used to demonstrate design options and engage enthusiast communities, even when those pieces remain exclusive.
