Avatar Legends fighting game delayed to July 23

The developer announced on the game’s official social media account that Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will launch on July 23, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled July 2 date. The team said the extra three weeks will be used to add new content and refine the title before release.

The announcement included a message to the community: “To our Avatar community: To ensure AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game delivers the best possible experience at launch, we wanted to let you know that we’re taking a little extra time to cook up an exceptional Avatar adventure, including brand new content previously unplanned! We can’t wait for you to master the elements and see how the Four Nations have come to life. Thank you for your patience and continued support!”

The developer noted the new date applies to the full launch on Nintendo Switch 2. The team framed the scheduling change as an opportunity to add features and polish the game rather than as a response to a specific technical problem.

The title will include a single-player story mode and hand-drawn 2D animation. The roster will feature 12 fighters, and the game will support offline and online versus play, with rollback netcode for online matches and crossplay between platforms.

The developer recently released gameplay footage that includes the character Azula. Promotion for the game has continued in the months before release. Players who expected an early July launch will now wait until July 23 to play.
