Back to the Dawn Coming to PS5 and Switch Oct. 22, 2026

Back to the Dawn, a 2023 Xbox-exclusive RPG from Metal Head Games, will release on PS5 and Nintendo Switch on Oct. 22, 2026; no PlayStation 4 version is planned.

Metal Head Games confirmed Back to the Dawn will launch on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch on Oct. 22, 2026, and that the game will not be released for PlayStation 4.

The title first entered early access on PC before reaching full release on PC and Xbox in 2023. The studio scheduled the PS5 and Switch editions as part of the game’s cross-platform expansion for October 2026.

Back to the Dawn is a prison-escape themed role-playing game in which players control an animal inmate, manage survival in a hostile environment and plan an escape. The official description states, “crime, conspiracy, and hidden traps intertwine, while the relationships between characters grow increasingly complex.” Gameplay combines stealth, combat, exploration and choice-driven interactions that affect factions and story outcomes.

A trailer for the PS5 and Switch releases has been published by the developer. The PlayStation 5 edition is available to add to wishlists on the PlayStation Store. Metal Head Games has not announced pricing or detailed any platform-specific features.

The developer previously used the early access period on PC to refine mechanics and make updates ahead of the full PC and Xbox releases. No further comments on the October launch were provided.
