Bandai Namco released Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve today on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 5. The game also launched digitally for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Project Aces developed the title and continued the Ace Combat franchise’s focus on aerial combat and narrative missions. Players take the role of fighter pilots conducting dogfights and completing objectives against air, ground and naval targets.
Campaign Mode uses a layered cloud system that players fly through while tracking and engaging targets. The game uses arcade-style flight handling to keep controls accessible while supporting heavier weapons for specific objectives.
The release includes cinematic first-person pilot scenes designed to convey the pressures of combat. Between missions, players can interact with squad members to develop character relationships that accompany the combat sequences.
The game is available in two editions. The Standard Edition includes Ace Combat 8, a playable F-14A aircraft and the PS5 version of Ace Combat Zero. The Deluxe Edition adds a set of customizable cosmetics, a Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher and three days of early access to the Standard bundle.
Project Aces handled development and updated visuals and mission design for current-generation consoles and PC. The title is available now through each platform’s digital storefront.
