Bethesda Confirms PS5 Remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas

Bethesda confirmed PlayStation 5 remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas in a studio update released on July 17, 2026. The studio did not provide release dates or say whether the remasters will be exclusive to PlayStation 5.

The announcement appeared in a letter that outlined several projects planned for the coming years and named the two remasters among them. Bethesda did not specify technical targets, whether expansions will be included, or whether console mod support will be part of the releases.

Fallout 3 launched in 2008 as the first Fallout title developed by Bethesda after the company acquired the franchise. The game is set in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area roughly 200 years after a nuclear war and uses an open-world structure and character progression systems introduced by Bethesda.

Fallout: New Vegas, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, was released in 2010. The game is set in and around Las Vegas and the Mojave Desert and features branching narratives and multiple endings. New Vegas has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.

In its studio letter Bethesda wrote, “We love making these worlds as much as you love playing in them. Today, we want to share what’s next for Bethesda Game Studios and what you can expect from us in the years ahead.”

Fans and community members posted reactions across social networks and forums following the announcement. The remasters had been the subject of speculation for several years; the studio message is the first official confirmation.

Bethesda provided a broad roadmap of projects but kept timelines and platform details sparse. Pricing, release windows, content bundles and cross-platform availability are unresolved until the company shares further information.
