Bill Skarsgård to Star in Hideo Kojima’s Physint
Bill Skarsgård will lead Hideo Kojima’s action-espionage game Physint, announced during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast with a teaser poster and the tagline “The Next Cold War Begins.”
Hideo Kojima announced Bill Skarsgård as the lead actor for Physint during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast. The reveal included a teaser poster that shows a blonde-haired Skarsgård alongside the tagline “The Next Cold War Begins.”
Kojima Productions is developing Physint in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. Kojima described the title as a spiritual successor to his Metal Gear series. The studio released no gameplay footage and has not set a release date.
The project’s publishing partner changed late in development after PlayStation opted out this month and Xbox stepped in as the new publisher. Kojima confirmed the casting and the publisher update in an official press release.
Physint’s supporting cast includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe. Kojima noted that early costume fittings, scans and camera tests with Skarsgård and Fraser strengthened confidence in the project’s direction. “The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project,” Kojima wrote.
Kojima has previously cast well-known actors in his games, including Kiefer Sutherland in Metal Gear Solid V and Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Léa Seydoux in Death Stranding. Xbox is also working with Kojima on a separate horror title, OD.
Skarsgård is simultaneously attached to several film projects, among them Lords of War, a sequel to the 2005 film Lord of War, as well as Emperor and The Mosquito Bowl. The Physint announcement did not include a release window, platform specifics beyond the publishing partner, or further gameplay details; those items will be disclosed later.
