Blasphemous II gets free ‘The Third Sin’ expansion

A free expansion, Blasphemous II: The Third Sin, adds a large gothic castle, three Familiars, a blade‑tipped whip, new prayers, outfits, five achievements and six music tracks.

Developer The Game Kitchen released a free expansion for Blasphemous II this week titled Blasphemous II: The Third Sin. The update places new content inside a gothic fortress within Cvstodia. The castle spans winding halls, twisting towers, a large library and a crypt, and measures about one quarter of the combined Blasphemous II and Mea Culpa maps.

The expansion introduces three Familiars, described by the studio as magical entities that accompany The Penitent One and provide support in combat and exploration. A new weapon, a blade‑tipped whip, expands the character’s move set with standard and special attacks intended for crowd control and interacting with the environment.

The Third Sin adds new prayers that change player abilities, unlockable outfits for the Penitent One, and five new achievements. Series composer Carlos Viola contributed six music tracks designed to match the castle’s atmosphere. The update includes a gallery feature that lets players replay prior boss encounters without retracing large sections of the map.

The new content is available as a downloadable update for owners of the Switch edition of Blasphemous II. The Game Kitchen described the castle as “huge and foreboding” when announcing the expansion and positioned the area as a distinct, labyrinthe section within the existing game world.

Blasphemous II follows the original Blasphemous and continues the series’ action‑platforming format with dark, religiously themed imagery. The Third Sin adds a standalone area, new companion mechanics, a weapon and audio and cosmetic content for players who already own the game.
