Bloober Team Developing Star Trek: Shadow Frontier

Bloober Team is developing Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a story-driven sci-fi psychological horror game set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027. Paramount Games Studio will publish the title. Michelle Forbes will voice Lieutenant Ro Laren, the game’s playable protagonist.

Players will control Lt. Ro Laren as she attempts to rescue a friend after crashing on a distant planet, the studio says. The developer describes an environment affected by a strange consciousness that alters terrain and perceptions, and frames the game with a dark, mature tone and a focus on narrative.

An overview released with the announcement reads: “After crashing onto a distant planet overtaken by a strange consciousness, Ro Laren must survive in an environment that is as breathtaking as it is lethal.” The overview adds: “In true Star Trek fashion, Ro’s mission is driven by duty and purpose. But here, discovery comes at a terrible cost. The more she uncovers, the deeper she is pulled into a corrupted labyrinth where her memories twist, and the planet threatens to sever her connection to reality.”

A trailer published alongside the announcement provides a first look at the game’s atmosphere and Ro Laren’s role in the story. The publisher, Paramount Games Studio, previously released licensed titles including TMNT: The Last Ronin.

Bloober Team has worked on projects related to Silent Hill and other psychological horror releases. The studio describes Shadow Frontier as centering on survival and narrative discovery rather than action-focused gameplay.
