Bloober Team pitches Switch 2 features for Project M

Bloober Team says its Switch 2 exclusive Project M will use the console’s hardware and features to create a dark, horror-driven experience other platforms “wouldn’t be able to replicate,” CEO Piotr Babieno wrote.

Bloober Team’s CEO Piotr Babieno wrote that Project M, an exclusive for Nintendo’s Switch 2, will leverage the console’s hardware and controls to create a horror experience the studio believes other systems could not reproduce. The comments appeared in a recent message addressed to players.

Babieno framed the project around platform-specific design rather than raw graphical power. He listed factors the team is considering for atmosphere and fear: portability, controller design, built-in console features, player behavior and a sense of “closeness” to the game. “I’m not even talking about raw power or graphics,” he wrote. “More about how the platform itself can influence experience design: immersion, tension, player behavior, portability, console features, controllers, the feeling of ‘closeness’ with the game, or even completely different approaches to building atmosphere.”

The CEO asked players what kinds of horror they would like to see on the Switch 2 and which Nintendo-platform horror titles left the strongest impression. He also raised a research question about seasonality, asking what time of year feels best for playing horror games and noting that answers appear to vary by geographic location.

Babieno encouraged contributions while acknowledging some readers might prefer to keep ideas private. He added that Bloober Team may already be exploring similar concepts and suggested anyone uncomfortable sharing publicly could withhold their best ideas.

Project M remains largely unannounced beyond the platform exclusivity and the studio’s stated design goals. Bloober Team has not released details on release timing, gameplay mechanics or narrative elements. For now, the studio is gathering player impressions while keeping most specifics about Project M under wraps.
