Blood of Dawnwalker will offer 60 FPS on PS5

Rebel Wolves announced that The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch with a 60 frames-per-second Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro after weekend backlash over plans to target 30 FPS on consoles. The studio confirmed the change ahead of the game’s September 3, 2026 release.

In a statement on X, Rebel Wolves wrote that it had been developing a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS but had not been confident enough to promise it earlier. Public criticism prompted additional testing, and the studio determined it could include the 60 FPS option at launch.

Rebel Wolves outlined the console mode targets for launch: on PS5 and Xbox Series X the game will offer a Performance mode targeting 60 FPS, a Balanced mode targeting 40 FPS and a Quality mode targeting 30 FPS. The PS5 Pro will include those same modes plus overall visual enhancements. Xbox Series S will be limited to 30 FPS. The developer did not provide details about PC frame-rate options in the announcement.

The studio is staffed by developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The earlier announcement that consoles would target 30 FPS drew criticism from players online and led to the additional testing.

Rebel Wolves pointed to the recent testing results as the basis for the revised launch plan and confirmed the Performance Mode will be available on PS5 and PS5 Pro at release.
