Dogubomb has begun rolling out Blue Prince ver. 1.7 and the 1.7.1 hotfix to Switch 2, adding Color Assist, controller and keyboard remapping, Invert Stroll and motion-assist options.

Dogubomb, the studio led by Tonda Ross, has started rolling out Blue Prince version 1.7 and the follow-up 1.7.1 hotfix to Switch 2 consoles. The update arrived on PC last month and reached Xbox, PlayStation and mobile platforms in the weeks after; the studio posted on Bluesky that the Switch 2 rollout began yesterday. The new options are grouped in an Accessibility menu on the platform.

Version 1.7 introduces Color Assist, tools designed to improve color clarity for players who have difficulty distinguishing certain hues. The system can increase puzzle color contrast, display color patterns and add color labels to objects that can be examined. The patch also adds remapping for controllers and keyboards so players can reassign buttons and keys.

Motion Assist brings several comfort settings into one menu. It includes cursor and reticle adjustments, look sensitivity, field of view controls, smooth look and a “stairs skip” option that visually disables spiral staircase travel. A new Cursor Set lets players change reticle opacity, style and size. An Invert Stroll toggle reverses stroll behavior so holding the stroll button slows movement instead of increasing it.

The release also contains numerous bug fixes and gameplay adjustments. The 1.7 notes list fixes for visual clipping in the Precipice, collider and UI problems in the Casino, and restored Powered Duct animations. The update addresses routing and visibility issues around the house and grounds, corrects animation glitches in the Chamber of Mirrors, and fixes several floorplan duplication problems. Changes to Upgrade Disk floorplan selection aim to improve variety during challenge runs while reducing inappropriate room offers for new players.

Late-game corrections include fixes to rare room color classifications, save file loading errors between modes, occasional boat travel persistence issues and geometry clipping in late areas. The update also adjusts certain item behaviors and rebalances a Gambit of the Queen trigger to grant an extra key per trigger.

The 1.7.1 hotfix resolves issues discovered after the main update. It prevents the Color Labeling system from activating unless turned on in the Color Support Menu, restores correct controller input and button glyphs in a Blueprint document, and fixes an Explorer Trophy trigger so affected players should now find the trophy in the Entrance Hall. The hotfix also corrects several incorrect color labels on a Final Exam page and fixes cursor display problems in some Main Menu screens on Mac and in the Remapping menu.

Full patch notes were published on Steam and include a warning that some late-game entries may contain rare room or item names. Players on Switch 2 can check their console for updates to access the new accessibility options and fixes.
