Booty: Elder Scrolls 6 looks ‘amazing’ but years away

Matt Booty visited Bethesda’s studios, watched The Elder Scrolls 6 in development and described the game as ‘amazing’. He said the project is progressing but remains years from release.

Booty oversees Xbox’s family of studios, including Bethesda Game Studios. He said Microsoft will time any major announcement or full reveal to avoid showing the game before it is ready and emphasized the need to balance building excitement with holding back until work is ready for public review.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced several years ago. The studio’s director later called that early reveal premature. No release window or platform list has been confirmed for the next main entry in the series.

Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, in March 2021 and now funds Bethesda Game Studios. Microsoft has indicated it may pursue additional console exclusives depending on the state of its business, leaving questions about which platforms the game will appear on.

Bethesda continues development without a public release schedule. Booty’s visit confirms internal progress but does not include a timeline or launch plan.
