Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives Oct. 23, 2026 on PS5

Activision announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PS5 and other current‑gen consoles, releasing Oct. 23, 2026, featuring a Korean Peninsula campaign and 12 new multiplayer maps.

Activision announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, developed by Infinity Ward, with a global release date of Oct. 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and other current‑generation consoles. The studio said the title is built exclusively for current‑gen hardware.

Infinity Ward presented the single‑player campaign as a “dark, gritty” cinematic story set on the Korean Peninsula. Players will take the role of Private Park, a Korean soldier experiencing war for the first time. Series veteran Captain Price will return and appear in missions set in New York, Paris and Mumbai.

The developer noted the current‑generation–only approach allows technical upgrades across visuals and gameplay systems. Multiplayer will launch with 12 new core 6v6 maps. Additional multiplayer offerings include Gunfight maps, larger Big War maps designed for both vehicles and infantry, and a new mode called Kill Block.

Infinity Ward outlined improvements intended to change the feel of combat in multiplayer, citing enhanced aiming precision, refined weapon handling, more realistic audio and improved visibility. The game will include two Prestige progression paths: Classic, which provides a traditional reset experience, and Regular, which follows the standard advancement system.

The DMZ extraction mode will return in Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward said it will provide full DMZ details in June and described the mode as a transformed, large‑scale sandbox intended to deliver the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience.

Activision and Infinity Ward have released the release date and high‑level details now and plan further multiplayer and DMZ announcements ahead of the Oct. 23 launch.
