Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PS5 Arrives Oct. 23

Infinity Ward announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PS5, arriving Oct. 23 with a Korean Peninsula campaign, 6v6 multiplayer maps and the DMZ extraction mode.

Developer Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on PlayStation 5 on Oct. 23. The studio confirmed the game will include a single-player Campaign, Multiplayer and the extraction mode DMZ at launch.

The Campaign begins with a full-scale invasion of the Korean Peninsula by North Korea. Players will alternate between Private Park, a South Korean soldier experiencing frontline combat, and Captain Price, an operator working outside official channels to pursue a weapon that could alter the balance of power. Missions will take players to multiple locations, including trench warfare in Korea, urban engagements in New York, high-speed sequences in Paris and SAS operations in Mumbai.

Multiplayer will be available at launch with 12 core 6v6 maps set in varied international locations, additional Gunfight maps and several larger “Big War” maps for vehicle and infantry combat. A new mode called Kill Block places players in a live-fire training facility where the layout reconfigures between rounds to change sightlines and routes.

Infinity Ward described a new technology stack called Ballistic Authority intended to align bullet trajectory, weapon motion, operator stance, camera behavior, audio, field of view and target visibility to reduce random spread or “bloom” and make weapon behavior more consistent. The studio said multiplayer design emphasizes precise aiming and fluid movement to allow flanking and momentum during engagements.

DMZ returns as an extraction experience that supports solo play or squads. Players act as off-the-books operators recovering advanced military technology from a shifting exclusion zone with dynamic weather, changing objectives and hostile AI and player forces. Operators can loot gear, engage opponents, negotiate or betray allies and attempt to extract; deeper incursions offer higher rewards and greater risk of permanent loss.

Pre-orders for the PS5 edition are open, including a Vault Edition. A pre-order loyalty discount offers 10% off the Vault Edition to players who owned and played a Call of Duty title released in 2019 or later on the same platform account; the offer excludes free-to-play and mobile games, applies at participating digital storefronts, is valid through Oct. 23, 2026, and may change. The Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ will be playable on day one on PlayStation 5.
