Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 coming to Switch 2 on Oct. 23

Nintendo announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for Switch 2, launching Oct. 23 with cross-play and cross-progression; preorders and details will arrive later this summer.

Nintendo announced in its Nintendo Download email that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 23. The company said preorders and additional information will be shared later this summer.

The message described the title as the series’ return to a Nintendo platform and confirmed the game will include a single-player campaign, multiplayer and the DMZ extraction mode. Nintendo outlined campaign scenarios that include trench warfare in Korea, high-speed chases through Paris and close-quarters combat in New York.

Multiplayer, the email notes, will emphasize grounded, precise combat with fluid movement and player choice. In DMZ, each extraction run into contested territory will require decisions about which objectives to pursue, what to secure and when to withdraw.

Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 release will support cross-play and cross-progression so players can compete and retain progress across supported platforms. The announcement also mentioned optional Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for the Switch 2 hardware. The company did not specify other platforms or whether any features will be exclusive to the Switch 2 beyond the optional controller support.

The announcement did not include developer or publisher credits, pricing, edition details or file size. Nintendo said more information and preorder windows will follow over the summer. Industry schedules point to the Xbox Game Showcase on June 7 as a potential time for further reveals, but Nintendo has not confirmed any appearance at that event.
