Capcom moved the release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword to Sept. 4, 2026, advancing it from the previously announced Sept. 25, 2026. The change brings the launch forward by about three weeks.
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. On PC it will be sold through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store.
Pre-orders are open for Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions. Purchases of any paid edition made before Sept. 24 qualify for Early Adopter bonuses; Capcom has not disclosed the contents of those bonuses.
Capcom released a playable demo on all platforms. The demo lets players sample updated combat mechanics ahead of the full launch.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first new mainline Onimusha title in 20 years. The story follows samurai Miyamoto Musasht, who wields a mystical OniGauntlet as he fights demons invading Edo-period Kyoto. Capcom has shown changes to combat in promotional materials and the demo; full system details are expected closer to release.
Capcom did not provide a reason for moving the release date earlier. The Early Adopter window runs through Sept. 24, shortly after the new launch date.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be available across next-generation consoles and PC digital storefronts on Sept. 4, 2026.
