Capcom: Onimusha full game will be tougher than demo

Capcom says Onimusha: Way of the Sword, due Sept. 25, will be harder than the PS5 demo; some demo techniques unlock later and enemies and bosses are stronger in the final game.

Capcom confirmed the full release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword will present a higher difficulty than the PS5 demo and will arrive on Sept. 25.

Producer Akihito Kadowaki posted a short video on social media explaining the demo covers only a slice of the early story and that several combat techniques available in the demo are meant to unlock later in the campaign. He added those moves were included to illustrate the combat system’s technical range and to teach core mechanics such as parrying and timing. “The demo is just a slice of the early part of the story,” he wrote.

Kadowaki addressed enemy behavior, noting the demo was designed to welcome players of varying skill. He stated average Genma foes in the demo are less aggressive than in the finished game and that bosses and regular Genma will put up a tougher fight in the final release.

The PS5 demo, released last week, offered two difficulty settings described as easy and normal. Capcom confirmed the final game will keep less demanding options for players who prefer them while providing stiffer challenges and more punishing boss encounters for those seeking harder play.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword follows Musashi’s fight against Genma enemies and will be available on Sept. 25.
