Capcom Confirms Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake for PS5

Capcom confirmed it is developing a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica for PlayStation 5, with the project scheduled to arrive in 2027. The company did not provide a specific launch date, price or confirmation of additional platforms. The announcement did not include a trailer, gameplay footage or a release window within 2027.

The project is part of Capcom’s program of modern remakes for the Resident Evil franchise. The studio previously released remakes of Resident Evil 2 in 2019, Resident Evil 3 in 2020 and Resident Evil 4 in 2023. Those releases updated graphics, gameplay systems and production values.

The original Resident Evil: Code Veronica debuted on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and later appeared as Code: Veronica X on other systems. The game follows Claire Redfield as she searches for her brother Chris across a remote island prison and an Antarctic research facility. Code Veronica introduced characters and plotlines that expanded the series timeline.

Capcom has not disclosed which development team is handling the remake or whether original creators are involved. The company did not specify whether the PS5 version will use features such as adaptive triggers, haptic feedback or enhanced performance modes. There was no information on collector editions, pre-order incentives or media tie-ins.

Some fans have sought a modern version of Code Veronica because the title has been less available than other mainline entries. Capcom’s confirmation makes Code Veronica the next numbered mainline title slated for a full remake on current hardware.
