Capcom Reveals Resident Evil Veronica Remake for Switch 2

Capcom announced a RE Engine remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica for Nintendo Switch 2. Claire Redfield returns three months after Raccoon City; the game arrives in 2027.

Capcom announced a remake of the 2000 game Resident Evil Code: Veronica for Nintendo Switch 2. The title will be called Resident Evil Veronica, will use the RE Engine and is scheduled for release in 2027.

The story is set three months after the Raccoon City biological disaster. Claire Redfield travels to France in search of her brother Chris, is intercepted by an Umbrella special forces unit and held on Rockfort Island. Players will guide Claire through an isolated, infected island as she attempts to escape and uncover what happened there.

Capcom unveiled the project at Summer Game Fest and described the title as a modernized reimagining that preserves the core elements of the original while updating gameplay and visuals. The studio noted the remake will revisit the original game’s focus on Claire and its island setting with updated production values.

The company identified the RE Engine as the underlying technology and pointed to its use on recent franchise entries to produce higher-fidelity character models, lighting and environmental detail. Capcom outlined plans to tighten survival-horror mechanics and revise pacing and systems to reflect changes in the series since 2000.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica first released in 2000 and is known for its narrative centered on Claire Redfield and its prison-island location. The remake aims to retell those story beats within the updated technical framework.

Capcom has confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 as a platform and given a 2027 release window. The studio has not announced a specific release date or confirmed additional platforms. The studio plans to provide more information closer to launch.
