Cassette Beasts 2002 announced with 240+ creatures
Bytten Studio revealed Cassette Beasts 2002 at the PC Gaming Show, a sequel to 2023’s Cassette Beasts that adds more than 240 collectible beasts and expanded fusion options.
Bytten Studio revealed Cassette Beasts 2002 during the PC Gaming Show. The title is a follow-up to 2023’s Cassette Beasts and continues the series’ cassette-player mechanic that lets players record and transform into monsters for turn-based battles.
Developer materials describe a roster of more than 240 beasts; marketing text lists over 250 and claims upwards of 50,000 possible fused forms. Any two recorded beasts can be combined in combat to create composite forms that inherit animations and abilities.
Battles use elemental matchups and a mix of utility, support and offensive options. The developer described rogue monsters that learn from player tactics and return with altered behavior. The creature roster includes evolutionary lines.
The game retains pixel-art character sprites set against more detailed background environments. The developer confirmed new audio contributions, including work from singer Johnny Gioeli. No release date or platform list has been announced.
Cassette Beasts 2002 adds social and multiplayer features. Players can meet 12 companion characters with individual stories, quests and possible romance paths; strengthening companion bonds can unlock more powerful beast forms. Multiplayer modes include cassette trading, cooperative story missions tied to an occult mystery, random encounters with friends, one-on-one matches with power scaling, and timed objective challenges that offer rewards.
The studio has published screenshots and feature summaries outlining battle systems, fusion mechanics, companion interactions and multiplayer modes. Further details and a release date are expected in the months ahead.
