Konami is marking Castlevania’s 40th anniversary by offering the original NES Castlevania free on Android and iOS from Sept. 25 through Oct. 24, 2026, and by discounting several Castlevania collections on the PlayStation Store through Oct. 8, 2026.
The mobile release is the original 8-bit Castlevania developed for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game is available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store during the one-month window. Downloads made during the promotion remain playable on devices after Oct. 24, 2026.
On PlayStation, Konami has discounted four compilation packages. The Castlevania Dominus Collection is 50% off at $12.49 and is compatible with PS5; it includes Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia and Haunted Castle. The Castlevania Advance Collection is $5.99 on PS4 after a 70% reduction and includes Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow and Dracula X. Castlevania Requiem, pairing Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, is $5.99 on PS4 at 70% off. The Castlevania Anniversary Collection is $3.99 on PS4 at an 80% discount; its lineup consists of Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge, Castlevania Bloodlines, a new English version of Kid Dracula and History of Castlevania – Book of the Crescent Moon. All PlayStation sales end Oct. 8, 2026, after which prices will revert to their regular levels.
Konami released a 40th anniversary celebration video alongside the promotions. The franchise debuted in Japan on Sept. 26, 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System and has since seen more than 30 titles released worldwide. The series is an early influence on the action-platformer subgenre commonly labeled “Metroidvania.”
