Chaos Gate – Deathwatch coming to Xbox Series X|S in 2026

Complex Games announced that Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch will arrive on Xbox Series X|S in winter 2026. The title is a direct sequel to 2022’s Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters.

Players will lead an Inquisitor-led Deathwatch Kill Team of up to eight specialists drawn from across the Imperium. The game offers nine playable classes that combine abilities, weapons and chapter traits for squad customization.

The campaign pits players against seven enemy factions across the Tyrian expanse, including Genestealer Hivecults, Orks, T’au and forces of Chaos.

Complex Games said it built the user interface and controls for consoles from the start while keeping PC support. The studio alternates between controller and keyboard inputs during development to refine both control schemes, and it worked with Warhammer experts to align game systems and lore with the tabletop setting.

Combat features environmental interaction and a focus on melee and ranged interplay. Players can topple pillars, trigger vent hatches and use psychic pushes and pulls to reposition foes. The studio introduced units with clearer roles, including specialists focused mainly on melee or on ranged combat.

New vehicles and mission types expand battlefield options. The game includes redesigned loadouts and units such as the Redemptor Dreadnought, Scout Sentinel and the Leman Russ tank. A standalone Skirmish Mode will let players test Kill Team builds and tactics against selected factions outside the campaign.

Complex Games said the campaign introduces the Deathwatch through an inquisitor’s perspective and unlocks characters and classes over time. Studio head Jonas Van Niekerk noted, “We designed the UI and controls for consoles from day one,” and added the team aimed to make the title accessible to players new to Warhammer 40,000.
