Control Resonant launches on PS5 Sept. 24; Dylan leads
Control Resonant arrives on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 24 (Sept. 25 in New Zealand). Dylan Faden is the sole playable character as Manhattan is warped by paranatural forces.
Developer Remedy Entertainment said Control Resonant will launch globally on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 24, with New Zealand receiving the game on Sept. 25. The studio released a new Story Trailer showing Manhattan’s altered architecture, shifting realities and monstrous entities created by a new form of resonance.
The sequel centers on Dylan Faden as the only playable character. The trailer shows Dylan encountering Resonant manifestations and hostile forces across a warped Manhattan. Players will develop Dylan’s changing abilities and use the Aberrant, a shapeshifting weapon the developer described as a core gameplay element.
Resonant changes the series’ perspective. The original game featured Jesse Faden as the protagonist; the new title places Dylan at the center of the narrative while Jesse remains part of the plot. The developer wrote, “Dylan is at the center of it all.” The announcement said the story examines how the siblings’ pasts continue to affect events in the present.
Dylan’s backstory is linked to the Federal Bureau of Control. He was taken in as a child and raised in a bureau institution that controlled many aspects of his life. That period ended in tragedy and long containment. Later, a paranatural force called the Hiss struck the Oldest House and Dylan became overtaken, causing what the developer called the largest paranatural disaster in the bureau’s history and resulting in hundreds of deaths. Jesse intervened in the original crisis, cleansed Dylan and left him in a coma. Control Resonant opens with Dylan awake in a changed city and searching for his sister.
