Cotton Reboot! launches on PS5 and Switch 2 on Oct. 22, 2026

Clear River Games will release Cotton Reboot! on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on Oct. 22, 2026. The game will be available in both physical and digital editions.

Cotton Reboot! is a reboot of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams, first released in 1991. The title was previously reissued in 2021 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC; the new release updates the listing for next-generation hardware.

The PS5 and Switch 2 versions include two display options. Players can select an “HD Reboot” mode with refreshed visuals or an “X68000 original” mode that recreates the pixel look of the Sharp X68000 computer.

Gameplay follows the young witch Cotton and her fairy companion Silk as they search for willow sweets across brightly colored, side-scrolling stages.

Promotional materials describe the series and character: “Defining the cute ’em up genre since 1991, Cotton the witch captured players’ hearts and tested their resolve as she became a beloved mascot of the genre, seeking out her beloved sweet Willow treats. Now returning in Cotton Reboot!, players will be reintroduced to one of Japan’s favorite cute ‘em up titles, this time in either HD or the iconic pixel perfect graphics thanks to the HD Reboot mode or X68000 original mode.”

The title is identified with the cute ’em up subgenre, a colorful offshoot of shoot ’em ups that emphasizes whimsical art and lighthearted characters. Other examples include Twinbee, Fantasy Zone and Parodius. Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams is the first entry in the Cotton series and helped define that style in the early 1990s.

Clear River Games will offer the Oct. 22 release worldwide through standard retail channels and digital storefronts.
