Crimson Desert PS5 patch adds full controller remapping, pets

Patch 1.09 on PS5 adds full controller remapping, about 30 small-animal pets with pick-up/put-down animations, new skills for Oongka and Damiane, and multiple fixes.
Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert patch 1.09 for PlayStation 5. The update is available now and brings full controller button remapping, roughly 30 small-animal species that can be registered as pets with new pick-up and put-down animations, new skills for side characters Oongka and Damiane, and a wide set of gameplay, UI, graphics, audio and stability fixes.
The new remapping option lets players assign every button on the DualSense controller to any in-game action. The feature follows earlier post-launch adjustments that simplified the control scheme.
About 30 small-animal species were added and can be registered as pets. Several creatures received dedicated animations for being picked up and placed down. Oongka and Damiane each gained a new skill that uses the same input as Kliff’s Blinding Flash Finisher (heavy attack while using Blinding Flash).
Content fixes address character customization so color checks are no longer affected by surrounding light, restore the ability to donate legendary fish, resolve challenges that failed to complete after acquiring certain knowledge, and return access to Pond Management mode where it previously could not be entered. The update fixes an issue where controls became unresponsive if a character died after entering Pond Management while taking damage, and corrects a bug where bears failed to eat fish dropped on the ground.
Control and action system fixes include allowing seeds to be assigned to and used from quickslots, preventing the player from entering Photo Mode when examining items, enabling the Magic Scythe when inventory is full, allowing the Scythe to be used in safe zones, and fixing the Mining Knuckledrill while clinging to a wall. Combat fixes prevent Kliff’s Evasive Kick from failing to consume Spirit when used unarmed and ensure Blinding Flash Finisher requires sufficient Spirit. Oongka’s Quaking Fury had its stagger meter increase adjusted. The update also corrects unnatural evasion and landing animations for Damiane and fixes cases where equipment appeared transparent or switched unexpectedly during actions.
UI and quality-of-life changes improve mission and interface behavior. The dispatch UI now lists comrades with required mission skills at the top and marks repeated missions in the UI. Keyboard and mouse users will see the cursor disappear when examining documents. The patch fixes issues that caused the number of comrades to display as zero in camp resources, resolved cases where the QTE input icon failed to appear after custom input settings, removed the Clean interaction prompt for fish that cannot be cleaned, and addressed UI freezes that occurred when re-entering the game after certain errors.
Graphics and platform-specific fixes correct raytraced sun and moon shadow rendering on PC and apply the same option on macOS. Localization quality and translation errors were improved across languages. Audio fixes stop document examination audio from playing when the voice language is set to English, restore sound effects when cooking with special tools, and fix an occasional crash when opening the Tree Branch crafting recipe tab. The update replaces certain 2D visual assets to better match the game’s art direction and fixes a performance issue where repeated elemental hits on sanctum cores could stack effects and reduce frame rates.
Patch 1.09 continues the ongoing post-launch fixes for Crimson Desert and is available for download now on PS5.
