Stellar Blade: Blood Rain developer hints at day-one Xbox launch - ps5.news

Shift Up, self-publishing Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, says platform choices are undecided but its CEO hinted at a possible day-one Xbox release to reach as many fans as possible.

Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, confirmed it will self-publish the sequel and that platform decisions have not been finalized. The company did not name any platform partners or provide a release date.

The studio’s CEO suggested the team is considering an Xbox release on launch day as part of efforts to reach a broad audience. The comment followed the game’s absence from a recent PlayStation State of Play, and contrasts with the original Stellar Blade, which launched as a PS5 exclusive published by Sony.

Asked about platform plans, the CEO said the studio wants the title to be available across current PCs and consoles and that no final choices have been made. “We just want to reach out to as many fans as possible,” the executive said.

The CEO also commented on technical and market pressures, noting higher costs and slower hardware improvements. “We actually see the future of computers and the consoles with a lot of issues going on. It’s becoming more and more expensive, and it’s hard for it to become more improved or developed. So we definitely want to make sure that the game can be enjoyed for those who have the current PC and current consoles,” the executive added.

Shift Up previously said at the end of 2025 it was considering bringing the original Stellar Blade to additional platforms. The studio’s choice to self-publish gives it direct control over distribution and platform selection, but the company has not confirmed whether Blood Rain will be multi-platform or exclusive.

Players and platform holders will await formal announcements from Shift Up for a platform list and launch timetable.
