Nintendo launches Pictonico! photo-to-minigame mobile app - ps5.news

Pictonico!, co-developed with Intelligent Systems, is free-to-start on mobile stores; a demo has three minigames. Volume 1 is $8 for 50 games and Volume 2 is $6 for 30.

Nintendo released Pictonico! on May 28, 2026, on mobile stores as a free-to-start app co-developed with Intelligent Systems. The title converts photos on a user’s device into short minigames and is available for iOS and Android.

The app offers a free demo that includes three minigames. According to Nintendo, purchasing additional game volumes unlocks up to 80 minigames in total. The app can use existing photos from the device or capture new images and convert them into minigames immediately.

Nintendo’s store listing shows Volume 1 is priced at $8 and contains 50 minigames, while Volume 2 costs $6 and contains 30 minigames. The listing states purchases follow regional pricing conventions.

Nintendo’s documentation notes a constant online connection is not required for play but temporary network access is necessary in specific cases. An internet connection is required the first time the app is launched and when purchasing game volumes or changing country, region, or language settings. Network access may also be needed for checking app updates, backing up or restoring save data through Google Play Games, syncing achievements with Game Center or Google Play Games, and accessing photos stored in iCloud.

Nintendo’s FAQ states the app processes images locally on the device and that users’ photos are not sent to the company. The FAQ also provides further details on distribution, connectivity, and privacy.

Intelligent Systems is listed as the co-developer; that studio is known for the WarioWare, Fire Emblem and Paper Mario series.

Pictonico! is available now on mobile stores and can be downloaded to try the free demo or to buy game volumes that unlock the full set of minigames.
